OFDM-Guided Deep Joint Source Channel Coding for Wireless Multipath Fading Channels

We investigate joint source channel coding (JSCC) for wireless image transmission over multipath fading channels. Inspired by recent works on deep learning based JSCC and model-based methods, we combine an autoencoder with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) to cope fading. The proposed encoder decoder use convolutional neural networks (CNNs) directly map the images complex-valued baseband samples OFDM transmission. are represented non-trainable (deterministic) but differentiable layers so that system can be trained end-to-end. Furthermore, our further incorporates explicit estimation, equalization, additional subnets enhance performance. method exhibits 2.5 – 4 dB SNR gain equivalent quality compared conventional schemes employ state-of-the-art separate such as Better Portable Graphics (BPG) Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) schemes. performance improves when state information (CSI) feedback. scheme is robust against signal clipping parameter mismatch model used in training evaluation.
